Ed Givens passed away December 17, 2011 R.I.P. ED

Ed Givens passed away on December l7, 2011. He was a brave fighter. Ed served in the U.S. Army in l955, through 1957 and married Bonnie Jean Givens. Later in life he had his legs amputated due to diabetes. Being such a brave man, this didn't stop him from driving, traveling to Hawaii, camping and most of all being a loyal soldier for the Lord. He spent his last hours with his dear wife, while tears dropped from his eyes. He knew he was leaving his wife behind. May he Rest In Peace. In Ed's last hours he prayed with his pastor friend Rick. After his death Bonnie, "B.J." honored him in a wonderful Memorial and Celebration of Life, that followed. All his friends and family cried for our loss of such a unique and wonderful man, that we loved, and smiled later for his peace....... RIP...Ed...It is hard to believe that someone can be here one day and gone the next. B.J.
had a talk with their two beautiful white poodles, Jock and Monique, and told them that their Daddy

wouldn't be back anymore. She said they understood her 100% and they give her a great comfort.

Real Estate can be fun. Times are hard now for so many. The job opportunity is not what it was a few years ago. People are spending their life savings and living differently then they did a few years ago. Real Estate is down now, but the prices of homes and condos are great. Interest is very low now. We don't have a soup line now like we had in the depression, but it is very hard for many families today. Just keep smiling and hang in there.

I am putting a article together about the Depression for my next blog. My Mother and Father lived through that and were at Pearl Harbor when it was bombed. They survived it and have told me many stories about
their lives. Dad died and Mom is in an Assisted Living home. Their stories need to be shared.

Hello Everyone:
I just started taking Yoga a few weeks ago and I love it. It is perfect for all ages and activity levels.
It is a perfect approach to exercise. I do believe it keeps me in good posture and flexibility. Tomorrow I go to class again. I'll keep you informed.

Ed is at home and doing wonderful with his amputated legs.

Hello everyone:Update on Ed Givens
God had blessed Ed and Bonnie Jean Givens with humor. My husband, John and I went to see them
yesterday and we were amazed at them again. Ed had thrown away his hospital bed, which was in
his living room, and now he is in a wheelchair. It is so amazing. He is back to his old funny, smart and
"I can do" attitude. Bonnie dismissed all of her help and says it is simpler to do everything themselves.

Ed is also a Diabetic, as my husband is, so John was training Ed on a new injection pin. It is also simpler
and it will be easy for Bonnie to do the injections if Ed has a spell and can't administer it.

Ed is already talking about getting a prosthesis and looking forward to getting out and mingling with
friends and coming over to our house to swim

God is great.    Truthfully when Ed went in for surgery I thought I couldn't do what he did myself. I
still marvel at what Ed and Bonnie have been through and they laugh at themselves.

Ed has a machine (light) that is used to help Bonnie lift him in and out of bed or whenever he needs help getting pulled up. I know he will be throwing that away soon too.
They laugh as they tell us how Bonnie flipped him upside down once (before he had the surgery) and
he was hanging upside down by his foot. Ed shouted calmly, "B.J. I think we put this machine together
wrong."   Of course, they got Ed down and re did the machine.     I guess it really helps a lot.

I have had many requests for photo's so the next trip over I will take a few and send them out to you.
Ed and Bonnie appreciate all of your concerns and have asked me to write a book about their
walk with the lord.   I said I would consider it if I put myself in one chapter.

Saturday January 8th, 2011 in Beautiful Palm Springs the annual People Helping People had their fashion show. The models were proud to walk the stage and help raise money for

People Helping People. It was a perfect day and the ladies and gentlemen walked the stage and

were helped up in down by the handsome men in tuxedo's. Stacy Nix enjoyed her

long beautiful gown as you can see in the photo.

Life is so short.

I just woke up, and it is time to go to bed. You ask, "what did she mean by that statement." Well, yesterday is gone. All we really have of yesterday is its memories. You can't go back, but you can enjoy each moment in time, if you focus on what is happening good in you life. Think back twenty years, if you are old enough. Where were you at that time? What were you doing? Who were you with. Time goes faster than we think. Many days there just isn't enough hours in the day. My point is, enjoy each moment of your life, as if it was your last.

I wish everyone that follows me a Happy New Year. Don't forget to do your goals. Write them down and make sure you add exercise and time, for yourself, in your plan. Take time to read, and if you are a writer like me, set a time each day to do your writing. You can get sidetracked so easy. I hope this is the year for

DO YOU EVER WONDER, WHO IS LOOKING AT YOUR YOUR BLOG????? Well, do you ever wonder? Is it your daily diary, or is it newsworthy? Does it make someone laugh or cry? Do they read it all the way through to the bottom?

I have a daily Proverb at the bottom. Today it says:

An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up....... Proverbs 12:25

Also I have a daily Puppy at the bottom of my Blog. If I can make one person smile with my blog it is worth all my hours of writing. If I make someone cry, I'm sorry. I hope the tears are tears of joy....

Sometimes life is heavy on our hearts. And that is the truth.

"Situation Maid" What a wonderful Book

SITUATION MAID

Lillie Nelson, the maid that worked for the Reagan's.

This book, "Situation Maid, " is about an African American woman, Lillie Nelson, who started out in life with nothing but herself, and ended up with great dignity. A poor orphan that worked in the cotton fields at 5 years of age and had no mother or father and basically raised herself.

"Situation Maid " illustrates through Lillie's story how the blacks were treated in the south, using the 'N" word and how horrific they were looked down upon as second class citizens. This woman teaches herself how to read from looking at pictures in cookbooks. This book illustrates how anyone can start out in life as a lost soul and end up with dignity and happiness and hope.

It reminds us that money can't buy you love and how God works miraculously in our lives each day to lead us to his Kingdom.

In the beginning of the book Lillie told the author, Stacy Nix, "Don't cry for me for I have lived a wonderful life and I find great pleasure in telling you my story. " Lillie's life story will teach others to be thankful for what they have, and to reach for the moon and the star's in whatever your circumstances may be.

"Situation Maid," was a story told by Lillie Nelson to Stacy Nix, while Lillie was working for the Reagan's. Stacy would interview Lillie daily and record some of the interviews. There are many tapes, video recordings and an interview done by CBS of Stacy and Lillie while writing the book.

It was not unusual to see Lillie jumping into a Limo with her home made pies, home made bread, on her way to the Reagan's. Lillie would stand outside the gate of her Condo development with her uniform on, covered with a long coat, white gloves, a fabulous hat, two large sets of luggage and patiently wait for the Limo driver to arrive. Then she would dash off to the Reagan's ranch ready to accommodate Mrs Reagan's wish for
her secret custard pumpkin pie.

If you like to laugh while you read, and get chills down your spine, I suggest that you read this book.

The readers of "Situation Maid " will take away a new vision for life. This story will heal peoples hearts by this heart wrenching story. Situation maid has the powerful ability to last through centuries with energy to stimulate the minds of many people.

The book ends with many favorite recipes of Lille's including one of Mrs. Reagan's favorite birthday dinners and President Reagan's favorite meat dinners and various photos illustrating the same.
